How Not To Die On Monday, the poem

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Monday is a great day
To be so very happy;
I find an exciting way
To not be weepy.

I gaze serenely at the sky
And a smile crosses my face;
I keep watch as the day goes by
Abounding in joy and grace.

Nothing is going to make me sad
Not even bad drivers on the freeway;
Today I will forget how to get mad
Anger is bad for the heart they say.

I won’t let the stress consume me
I’ll pretend that it’s not there;
Life has so much beauty to see,
All the fuss gets me nowhere.

I take a look at the boss
While I keep my cool;
Is he really at a loss?
From here on I rule.

Get this work done, Miss Happy.
Today we have a big deadline.
And try to make it snappy;
Hurry with this work of mine.

Get here now, do this, do that.
He’s an adult at child’s play.
I turn with a smile and a “What?”
He’s mad when he doesn’t get his way.

Hurry up! he’s yelling out.
One thing at a time, I say;
He is foaming at the mouth.
Dear Boss, today is a new day.

I have a whole new attitude.
Monday should not be a day in hell
I have found brave fortitude
Wherein meanness can never dwell.

He says, “What’s wrong with you?”
Baffled, he doesn’t understand–
I respond, “Is it because I’m new?”
It seems he‘s lost the upper hand.

He cannot drive me crazy
I’m too cool now to be upset
Because I am going easy;
Over what he “expects” to get.

Big boss shakes his head
Does not know what to say:
His ego has begun to dread
As I take my turn at roleplay.

The former me is now gone
Welcome to my new mindset;
There will be no more to groan
Nothing more about which to fret.

From this day forward
My Mondays will shine
Through melodies unheard
And song and spirit sublime.

If he doesn’t like my new way
He can kiss my new start;
Because I love my Monday.
Most of all, I love my heart.

WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE BRAVE

Friday, June 19th, 2009

We should always be brave
So we could maintain emotional strength
Or we’ll start to misbehave

We should always be brave
So we could be in touch with ourselves
Or we’ll end up in a wave

We should always be brave
So we could continue to love ourselves
Or bad love, we’ll crave

We should always be brave
Because we have no choice but to be brave
Therefore, we should always be brave

THE MOST PRECIOUS ORGAN

Friday, June 5th, 2009

We must honor the heart
Its strength is incomparable
It’s the most beautiful piece of art
Its beauty is infallible

The heart’s endurance is flawless
Considering what it goes through daily
In looking at the heart’s finesse
How does it stay alive really?

We must value this beautiful accessory
For without it, we would not exist
Honoring the heart is absolutely necessary
And something we should not resist
